How do your purchases help?Profits from our sales support health, literacy and economic development programs at The Gathering Place. In just the past year we have provided over 1,000 home visits to at-risk mothers on the Navajo Reservation. Our Playpen program, which focuses on developing valuable parenting skills among young and inexperienced parents, has served more than 400 families. We have provided over 400 clients with literacy training and take-home materials to increase the time parents and children spend reading together. Additionally, The Gathering Place's Parents as First Teachers program got underway this year. The program focuses on providing needed family resources such as GED education, job training skills, early childhood development training and general literacy development.
